excess spending only puts you further m to debt The government has to learn to put some reins on spen ding and manage it as a family must Ed Scott Mlssissaupa I was quite disappointed with the deficit projection It s so much at one time I m not so much against deficit budgets just when they are so high in one year Dave Georgetown It stinks It against my philosophy I don t agree govern ment pays for everything for everybody People need to do things themselves to improve their selfesteem The govern budget is taking away from this Dreams do come true By TERESA PITMAN Public Relations Children Society Dreams came true for ll more children connected with the Halton Children Aid Society thanks to Air Canada and a number of other community sponsors Air Canada flew a of kids one hundred in total to Orlando for a full day Disney World the second year that they have run their Dream Come True event Ten of those children were sponsored by the Halton CAS one additional CAS child was sponsored by the Milton Optimist Club CAS Social Worker Mike Downs says Once again the Air Canada volunteers did a tremendous job of organizing the whole thing and you can lm with that many kids and escorts it gets pretty com plicated The excitement started at the airport where volunteers dress as Miss Piggy Turtles and other characters greeted the kids and the 20 escorts The kids were just in awe Mike says One of them was almost breathless she was so ex cited One of the parents told Mike I so happy I don know whether to laugh or cry Once they boarded the plane specially fitted with giant Mickey Mouse ears they joined in a pro gram of activities that kept them busy until they arrived in do The young passengers on this trip were all children between the ages of five and fourteen from the Toronto area who would other wise never be able to visit Disney World Thanks to the Air Canada volunteers they were able not on ly to visit Magic Kingdom but en joyed free food free cameras film and processing and took home T shirts hats and knap sacks After an exhausting day touring and exhibits they returned to Toronto around mid night Everything was donated including fuel for the plane and the services of the flight crew Mike feels that this event does more for the children involved than letting them meet Mickey Mouse and go on rides These are the kids who always get left behind he says This gave them a chance to be special for a day And it gives them a sense that there are peo ple out there who really care FLYERS Watch for these MONEYSAVING flyers inside this edition of THE HERALD
