THE HERALD Wednesday May 8 1991 Halton Darts League playoffs have organizational problems Monday s Halton League singles playoffs went in disarray as changes were made to the play arrangements in midstream and players left the arena However the majority of combatants re mained for some hefty dart throwing as the season wound down to the finish McGibbon No win the playoffs by one point in my ficial standings 0 No 3 is second with 0 No 2 third and George No 1 in fourth place My own lot George No 2 came fifth with two of our players leaving us shorthanded when within a shout for the win and in sixth place Hollywood McGib bon lassies showed will to take eighth place overall they liked the format Seventh are 0 No J ninth are George No 3 and Exchange No 2 finished tenth Copper Kettle No 2 Exchange No 1 Time Out and Copper Ket tie No 1 rounded out the dings There are few occasions when this column comments upon the goings on in the league however the playoff organization leaves a little to be desired The format of playing all in the one place simp- does not work as evidenced by the turn out and the changes in format as we go along Something to ponder and change for next season Another point to consider is the conduct of some players whilst opponents are at the board the efficiency or otherwise of markers Education is the answer The league should also consider the sponsors when setting the playoff format A similar round robin in which all the sponsoring bars have play and customers is more desirable There is a danger that we may lose places to play and that would be unfortunate as the league is good and there are good players and sponsoring bars A huge thank you to all out establishments owners and staff for a superb hosting is in order and on the players behalf the thank you is hereby extended The Youth section had a final day at 0 Tooles on the and a youthadult blind draw doubles friendly tourney was held to close out play Dave Scutt part first time player
