Rick Hideout and his Midget Select team as they won Port Eries in augural midget house league select tournament Pitted against in its first game Georgetown took the better part of the first period to establish its dominance Down 10 entering the second period Georgetowns superior skating soon began to take its toll on Mike Oldneve on passes from Jeff Timmons and Troy Gardiner tied the game at the 56 mark Four minutes later scored what proved to be the win goal on a pass from Paul completed the hat trick after converting Ryan Pells shot from the blue line Dave Laurence closed out the scoring with assists from Mike Large and Jason Smith to make the score Tim Kingston backstopped the Georgetown fort with solid goaltending allow one goal on 18 shots Georgetown s second game against was the most physical as came out hitting from the opening faceoff Once Georgetowns skating and pinpoint passing pro ved to be too much for physical approach and at the final whistle the scoreboard read Georgetowns favor Once again Oldreive scored the winning goal on passes from Bob Dezeeuw and Jeff Timmons after Dave Laurence converted a Jason Smith pass for Georgetowns first goal Less than a minute later Oldneve scored his second goal assisted by Ryan Pells and Bob Dezeeuw Jeff Timmons third period goal with assists by Oldneve and Adam Money penny gave Georgetown their second win Carl Elgins steady effort bet ween the pipes frustrated the op position completely Seneca proved to be no match for Georgetown in the third game as Georgetown romped to an win host Seneca 323 Goal scorers were Jason Smith with 3 Adam Moneypenny Oldrieve and Dave Humphries Assists went to Timmons 3 Laurence Large Gardiner Pells and Scott McGuigan fourth game was for the championship against and once again Georgetown came out flying displaying two way hockey con tinually fore checking and back checking their way to a 61 cham pionship win Goal scorers were Smith 2 Large Laurence Providing assists were Pells 3 Laurence 2 SnSith Humphries Aldneve Large and Jason Moore The coaching staff of Rick Rldeout Don Ballantme and Hall Pells personally extended con to all the players for a most deserving championship win Esquesing Pony Club teams tops in quiz challenge Volleyball Clinic Georgetown District High School students John Jlckllng and Holly Stones held a volleyball clinicplay day for several local public school at on Friday as part or their grade 12 physical education Here Nick Johnston of George Kennedy Public School and Karen of Harrison Public School get some help with setting mechanics Herald Esquesing Ponyclub teams earned first and second place finishes at the Western Ontario Regional 1991 Quiz Champion ships held on April in Kin cardine The Regional Champion ships are the first of many ferent types of Cham pionships held at Regional tional and International levels throughout the year It is here that ponyclubbers get to try out some of the knowledge gained by attending lectures clinics and quiz practices during the winter months Sixteen clubs from throughout the region entered teams in the D Level Competition The Esques Ponyclub D Team consisting of Michelle Tamara Hamilton Erin Martijn and Shortll finished in First Place overall Team member Erin took First Place in the In dividual with only one incorrect answer Of the teams entered in the C Level Competition the Esques ing team of Laura Anderson Bourke Lesley Ralston and Rachel Zinke tied for First Place with Grand they had to go on to a tiebreaker round which Grand River won leaving the Team with a Second Place finish The top three individuals in the level Competition were tied for first The placings were once again decided by tiebreaker Lesley Ralston of finished in third after the
