HERALD Wednesday 11 Council Briefs Glen residents are concerned Although Glen Williams residents attending a public meeting Monday over a develop ment proposal didn oppose the application outright they ex pressed concern their water quality and quantity could be jeopardized by the project The proposal calls for homes each valued at imately to be built east of the Ninth Line north of the Credit River and west of the Tenth Line Those attending wanted assurances from the Town that before approval is granted if at all the project wouldn t deplete their well water source or the water quality Town Planner Ian Keith assured the residents the pro ject approval would be on con dition that Glen Williams first be hooked up to municipal water One Glen Williams resident told councillors how his water supply has decreased on a yearly basis for the past 18 years He been able to use the dishwasher for the past three years his shower cuts out regularly and he doesn t always have enough water to do his dry Mr Keith told residents the hydrogeological study submitted by the applicant raises concern about the impact of the develop ment on water supply and that is why the developer will have to build a water mam on Street in Glen Williams Town planning staff will now write a report incorporating the concerns raised by the residents and report back to Town council with a recommendaiton to either approve or deny the application Silver Creek project Halton Hills Council will decide this Monday if the Walton Fly Fisherman Club in Georgetown can rehabilitate Silver Creek in Park every supportive of the project Town councillors decided Monday during a public meeting that Town Recreation and Parks Department first meet with club representatives to en sure staff has no objection to any aspects of the project The club refers to the project as putting the lustre back in Silver Creek The project objectives in elude stabilizing bank erosion preventing downstream sedi ment loading and providing an education centre for the general public to explain the benefits of stream rehabilitation projects Representatives for North Halton MPP Noel Duignan and the ratepayers group Residents Active in Develop ment Decisions spoke in favor of the rehabilitation project Kingsmill questions Georgetown resident Robert appearing before General Committee Monday m quired if the Kingsmill Develop ment project off Mountainview Road south was on schedule Committee is compnsed of Town councillors Mr Davies was appearing on behalf of those people who have purchased one of the Town houses in the development pro ject Town Engineer Bob Austin told councillors that to date no other projects are holding back the con schedule People are slated to move into the town houses during the beginning of November The project that could even tually hold up the construction schedule is the planned expan sion of Maple Avenue Mr Austin met with representatives from the province s Ministry of the En vironment yesterday Tuesday to discuss environmental con cerns raised over the expansion proposal Only if the has problems with the expansion plan could the schedule be put back he said The meetings outcome was unavailable at press time Garage site deferred Town General Committee recommended Monday that final consideration of a proposal to construct a 10 square foot garage to be located off Trafalgar Road south of Sideroad be deferred After hearing from local lawyer Bert Arnold the ap plicants representative cillors requested staff meet with the applicants to discuss if and how adequate types of screening of the project could be provided According to a staff report screening methods such as set backs and berming of landscap ing are necessary to bring the project in conformity with the surrounding land uses At pre sent that information has yet to be provided the report states Mr Arnold said the applicant will be able to provide the necessary topographical in formation within two
