Page THE WEEKEND OUTLOOK Friday June Seniors Annual general meeting c ByLESMELLISH Report on Annual General Meeting Although the annual general meeting had been well publicized in the press attendance was only and lacking a quorum no business could be conducted However the Chairman elected to proceed with the meeting for information purposes Since there is a properly functioning Board of Directors the business of the Association will go on and another general meeting will pro bably called in the fall An annual report was presented to the meeting and a copy was available to members at the meeting A copy of this report plus a brief newsletter will be sent to members of the Association this month Briefly the latest development is that members of the Executive and the Joint Committee have had a meeting with Mr John Roe of the Ontario Government Office of the Ministry of Community and Social Services and the Ministry of Health Mr Roes message was that for now there is very lit he tie money in capital funds for adult projects and he strongly suggests we establish ourselves for now in temporary facilities since operating grants are more readily obtainable In view of this the Board of Directors and the Joint Commit tee will be reviewing this possibility and in the meantime Mr Roe is obtaining further in formation on the steps that are necessary to Council adopting a By law and making a grant application It is expected of course that time will improve and the association will not lose sight of its objective to have a perma building in which to conduct a complete seniors program To this end the Board is plann ing additional fund raising pro jects It could be thai if vie establish a regular program of activities and become a functioning seniors Becoming older I have become a little older since I saw you last and a few changes have come into my life since then Frankly I have become quite a fnvolous old gal I am seeing five gentlemen every day As soon as I wake up Will Power helps me get out of bed Then I go to see John Charlie Horse then comes along and when he is here he takes a lot of my time and attention When he leaves Arthur Ritis shows up and stays the rest of the day He doesnt like to stay in one place very long so he takes me from joint to joint After such a busy day I really tired and glad to go to bed with Ben Gay What a life The Preacher came to call the other day He said at my age I should be thinking about the hereafter told him Oh I do all the time No matter where I am in the parlour upstairs in the kit chen or down in the basement I list Judy Lilly Older Adults Recreation Super visor Oakville for specialized in formation and support weekly newspapers The Independent and The Herald to Bob and Staff of the Herald for sug gesting and making available space for Seniors For The Future The regular Board meetings will be discontinued in July and August If necessary a special Board meeting may be convened to deal with pressing
