pushed her down on the couch kicked her an unknown number of times choked her and pulled her hair Police say the victim had two cut lips bruising and redness to her forehead a bleeding nose and swelling Minutes after the fight police say the accused started banging on a neighbors door accusing him of damaging the circuit panel because the power had gone out Police say he also verbally hearing Sexual assault allegations Police are investigating allega tions of sexual assault made by a 15yearold girl against a 17-ydar- male who lives in the same Georgetown group home as she Police say the girl alleged the male came into her bed at night and sexually assaulted her by touching her private parts The victim also alleges the same male sexually assaulted her in March Cigarette heist For the second time in four days unknown culprits have made off with thousands of dollars of cigarettes from The Smoke Shoppe in Acton The place was first broken into last Wednesday by three culprits who stole cartons of cigarettes worth from the store Then Saturday at approximately 230 am three culprits broke into the store and removed cases of cigarettes worth Police say a person standing near the shop heard the alarm go off and saw two men leave the store before joining a third man waiting outside the store Police are continuing their investiga tion Field of grass Police are planning to destroy approximately 1000 plants of marijuana that were found by a hiker at the Crawford Lake Con servation Area at Guelph Line and Steeles Avenue in Milton Saturday Police say the hiker was treking Calls Oil spill cleanup Halton Hills firefighters started the weekend cleaning up an oil spill Saturday evening in a Glen Williams house Firefighters say an oil tank located in the furnace of the home began leaking spilling approx imately litres of oil on the floor Firefighters cleaned some of the spill up using and plugged the hole as best they could until oil company cleaners arrived Power lines down Later that evening at firefighters were called to Boulevard where high winds brought some power lines Firefighters had little to do as there was no fire but waited until hydro workers came to Dep Chief Middaugh to Halton Polices Media Relations Officer Sergeant Carey Smith before he left to attend an On tario Chiefs of Police Conference in Sudbury Friday Police Services Board chairman William McCuliough announced Thursday that 48yearold Dep Chief was the unanimous choice of the board but officers of the Halton Regional Police Service say theyre going to miss him He was a good man to work with said Halton polices other DeputyChief John Barratt Ill miss him Hes been a good friend Detective Sergeant Michael Eacrett whos know Dep Chief since he joined the Halton Police service said he is a fair compassionate man who treated everyone he worked with with respect 1 have a lot of respect for him he continued Hamilton is fortunate to have him but itll be a bad day for Halton study because the Towns zoning bylaws delineate where the ap propriate type housing should be located in Town However Ms Knott disagreed with Mr explaining the bylaws are relatively weak since they
