Senior AA Raiders named organization of century By ROBERT RISK Herald Sports Editor Georgetown Raiders Senior AA team was voted the organization of the century in its category by the Ontario Hockey Association at its lOOth anniver meeting at the Royal York Hotel in Toronto last Thursday From to Raiders won eight championships along with being the finalists in six others a record that earned them the vote from the OHA Among the teams selected as best organizations only Hamilton AAA Toronto Malboroe Major Junior A and Waterloo Siskins Junior won more champion ships Raiders were also voted team of the decade for the hav ing won five championships and being finalists twice at the In termediate A level Aside from Oahawa Generals Major Junior A organization of 1941 they won more championships over a similar length of time To com memorate the accomplishments the OHA will be giving banners to the Georgetown Hockey Heritage Council Raiders President Finn Poulstrup a member of the organization that won the Hardy Cup in 198182 Intermediate A Canadian championship said the executive will try and get the banners duplicated and hung in Gordon Arena We have a history well be able to point to and tell our players they have a real reason to be proud of the teams past It will help give them an incentive to improve on that heritage Over 600 people attended the OHA convention including several
