football games The Glen managed to salvage a split of its two games in Mens Flag Football play on Sunday at Georgetown District High School losing 20 to and beating Plus Welding In the first half The Glen started off strong managing a 2013 lead by the mid point of the game aided by a touchdown by Jeff Coullghan and an intercep tion by Greg late in the se cond quarter Dawgs roared back after the break scoring unanswered points Brad Ferguson started his team off with a major and the two point convert followed by Wayne Stasiulis John Egan and another by Stasiulis to finish things off The Glen gots its revenge against Plus Welding in the next match putting 22 points on the board in the first half compared Threepitch event won by Brampton The Acton Lions Club hosted its third annual threepitch tourna June at Prospect Park in Acton as a fundraiser towards the construction of a new batting cage facility at the Park The level of competition was high with the Lions Club teams in from Brampton Bramalea Cawthra Georgetown Milton and Acton along with teams representing the Newfoundland Club and Zellers A final team was assembled of Acton en thusiasts calling themselves the Acton Pretenders Brampton Lions were vic torious in the final defeating the Acton Lions 137 Georgetown Lions were successful in over coming Acton Pretenders m win the consolation award Stewart Campbell from the Brampton Club was selected as tournaments MVP with Bob Reynolds from the Pretenders earning the sportsmanship award The tournament was blessed with both good weather and a fine turnout and hopes are high for an expanded tournament next year to just six by Welding Each team traded touchdowns in the latter part of the match Jeff Coulighan was the big scorer for Glen pullmg in two touchdowns and a convert followed by Shayne Hillock with eight points and one major from Pete Izzio Jeff Wood and Brad Miller each had six points for Welding In the third game of the day M and M defeated Moldmasters in a game that wasnt completely decided until the second half M and Ms Howard Thomas pulled in eight points for his team along with six more from Shawn Taras but a major from Simon of Moldmasters kept things close and M pulled away in the se cond half with Stew Hirst and Thomas each getting touchdowns while preventing Moldmasters from putting any points on the board Oldtimers put up a stiff fight in the last game keeping pace with In the first half with two field goals and a touchdown to trail 1612 at Paul Allison and Bob had scored majors for Longhorns in the first half with Wayne adding one
