every game since the beginning of the season The ladies continued this 7 game winning streak by winn ing an additional games when they participated in the Georgetown tournament on the weekend From the very first it was the pitchers Marion Lumbers and Sandra who controlled the outcome of each game Batters were left standing having trouble with the lighten speed of the pitches Strike after strike was thrown The team played one game on Friday night followed by 3 more in Saturdays blistering heat Join ing them was old teammate Maureen Tugnet Maureen travelled all the way from Smith Fails which is where she now calls home The championship game was cancelled due to thunderstorms Instead of rescheduling the game the Jim Dandies split the purse with the other contending team During the tournament most valuable players were chosen by the op posing team at each games end Players chosen were Sandra Kathy Martin and Maureen Tugnet who clinched the award twice Exceptional pitching and great reflexes in defensive play earned MVP for Sandra Prowse Kathy Martin was noted for hit ting the ball so far a field that fielders had to scramble to get it A leg injury held her to triples when home runs were clearly in dicated Maureen Tugnut also was a powerful hitter and was extra ordinary in playing right field While in mid right field she catapulted a throw to 3rd base narrowly missing an out
