Leferink will be permit ted to accept garbage from throughout Ontario To assist in making its decision the MOE re quested Halton Region comment on the transfer stations applica tion Ms Halsall argued the easier It is for Ontario municipalities to ship garbage outside their boun daries the less incentive there is for the communities to reduce their respective waste streams As part of the committees recommendation staff was directed to inform the MOE that a hearing under the provinces Environmental Protection Act should be held concerning the application According to the staff report application is dent with regard to information on the impact of increased truck traffic that could be created if the application was approved The report also indicates if Leferinks service area was ex panded then
