Burke Roger Baker and Andy Burns Brent Beaumont belted in two home runs and Jonathan showed his stuff as catcher Shaws Trophies Astros 28 Art Effects Yankees 27 Another close game saw Astros beat out Yankees Ashton Norman as pitcher and Johnson on first teamed up to throw two outs while Michael Pacheco scored two outs with some great running and Johnson started the third inning with an outstanding run and made great plays at second base Davtd hit three doubles with Ryan White belting in two doubles Armstrong 35 Expos played a great defensive game to beat out Expos with a grand slam by solid winn ing game against Yankees with some outstanding defensive plays by Michael Ireland as Aaron Kirk got an out at first base and the entire team played a great same and M Meal Shops The Herald Angels 19 Herald Angels Bnan put it all together with a a homer and a great popfly catch Willie Walker also provided an all round performance with good defensive plays and a home run Blake Mandarino made playing second base look easy with some great catches Finalist Split winnings of Annual Ladies Powderpuff Tournament The Ladies League held their annual tournament June 15 consisting of 27 teams from Midland Milton Hillsburg Acton and Georgetown Each team was guaranteed three games each having a time limit of one hour and minutes or seven innings As play pro gressed teams left in were get ting down The weather was very humid and some of the girls were glad when they got put out The tournament managed to get right to the finals with two teams tn each division when the rain came After that the lights went out so all the teams left in the finals agreed to split the ings and go home For the first time years two divisions had one of the home teams in it A Division was Burl to go against Jim Dandies Division was Green Monsters to go against Cavaliers and C sion was the Outlaws to go against Fast Freddies Milton JUNE Bishops Queens 19 She Devils 8 Queens ruled this night as Devils hung up their forks again For Queens Wendy Graham had a home run two doubles and five Bernice Gnffiths had a triple and two doubles Paula had three RBI s and Andrea Ford caught well Annette van Dyke hit a home run and had a great ing catch For Devils Chns Stoyles hit a home run Kim Kirk had four Bev Collorossi hit a double and Kathy Wilson made a sensa throw to second for an out Green Monsters 13 Outlaws 12 Monsters Outlaws but it wasn t easy with Chris Netten hitting a triple Lisa Switzer two doubles and Carol Hollock a dou ble For Outlaws Betty shot off a triple and sent three runs in Debbie Davies had a pie Linda hit a double Jay Shipley was dynamite with the big stick and also had a good catch for a third out Monsters were almost hung when Dawn Broadbent used her sawed
