plan to bring garbage from all of On tario to the Acton Quarry in the Niagara Escarpment In spite of the fact that the Niagara Escarp ment a unique natural wonder is now recognized by the United Na tions as a Biosphere Reserve current legislation gives no pro tection against landfills Because Georgetown Acton and ail the farms in between drink well water that comes from the water bearing layer of rock aquifer that the quarry has dug through you may be concerned about water contamination that Protect Our Water and Environmental Resources POWER has con tacted see this as a dangerous plan RSI expect to collect the ooze from the bottom of the landfill leachate which will have some treatment before being discharg ed to Black Creek you may have some concerns about the fish population in Black Creek or about Georgetowns Test Well No 15 downstream The Ministry of Natural Resources commenting on this proposal comments just released to the media find the Environmental Assessment unacceptable their emphasis because of the serious implications that the proposal will have upon the fisheries habitat and aquatic environment of Black Creek are also concerned about the site selection process
