Meteor and in the final of the knockout cup Last Saturday the playoff finals took place at Chinguacousy Park on a bright and cool afternoon First division winners are Merseyside who survived a late burst from Meteor to win Meteor opened the scoring in the first half through Peter Wright and Mersey equalized on the half time whistle from a disputed penalty kick Meteors injuries cost them in the second half as Mersey went into a lead Two goals from Eric Hack in the last fifteen minutes kept interest go ing until the end Earlier the second division final went into overtime and a penalty kick a 20 lead into the second half against a slow- moving Ajax In the second half awoke and scored once and took control of the second half The elusive second goal would not come and Gunners held out Also a 2 1 score came Blazers way in their confrontation with Milton and the better team won the day setting up the BlazersGunners final and Blazers tied the se cond division league title and share the championship Both teams are likely to be promoted to the first division next year Merseyside are first division league title holders as well as the- playoff winners with Meteor run ner up in both
