the HERALD Wednesday October 1901 Election 91 Municipal Election Should commissioners expenses on conventions be capped I believe the expenses should be kept at a reasonable level I know in the past it has been much too high That is part of the reason I am run ning But I have to look at the in formation first and see If there Is a need for WILLIAM SMITH I think that all expense accounts are more or less budgeted at the beginning of the year Each com has a budget figure and when the budget is reached that is the end of conventions Com missioners should know what would be beneficial to the Hydro MURT ALLISON The commission as a whole has a budget that is set on an annua basis Each commissioner is left up to his own discretion He must make a request to the commission as a whole to be able to spend that money I think the question is redundant because the budget already has a cap on it NT- ROGER No there is a set of guidelines which are unreasonable It should be up to each commissioner to look after their own expenses If it got out of hand the person has to be countable there should be respon sibiltty in spending the taxpayers money JIM I believe there should be a cap There already is a cap for the whole commission but each commissioner should have a cap on their ex penses I also think individual ex pense amounts should be reviewed once every three years The ex penses kind of vary depending on where youre going Some con ventions are in the US so you would have to fly there It would naturally cost more for those con ventions We have conventions around Toronto and London where you can drive I cant really speak about the expenses for the s because I was elected in but now expenses for conventions are more in line the spending in the three years I have been here has been very normal We get for the whole commission and we did not spend close to that this year T0P0LSEK SEEKS REELECTION Dons Topolsek Councillor in the Township of Erin for the past four should not go tc every convention In and was spent Compare that with in 1990 So far this year they spent The amount should be the same year after year You have to eat and drink but it is not necessary for every com missionertogo I dont think it should be so high It should be capped because it is classed as an income a benefit of some kind Commission on Election Finances Commission sur le elections
