Peel Police Association Hall 2 when Carl and Dorothy Swerdfeger nee Gibson celebrated their wedding an mversary Carl and Dorothy were married November 29 1941 at Ontario They left the farm near in and moved the family to the Cleave farm at Georgetown where the present Arena now stands Their move was to Farm at Huttonville and they later retired near Hut where Carl was an ROP Inspector for some years Their family son John of Chesley Ontario daughters Kathy of Sussex New Brunswick and Karen of Brampton as well as grandchildren Lisa Sarah and Steven Swedferger Todd Mark and Kelly and Jaime and Kyle Moore welcomed the many friends and relatives Also attending was the Maid of Honor at their wedding Grace of Tampa Florida and Best Man Mac Mof fatt of Chesterville Following the family dinner the Cleave family put on a skit Do You Remember depicting the 15 years spent on the Cleave farm and their close association Safari to Kenya A two week on a Safari to Kenya was enjoyed by Anne Wilson of and Nan of Woodstock Flying to Amsterdam Holland they spent 24 hours before flying on to Nairoba Kenya Here they stayed in different lodges each night One lodge was Tree Tops where Queen Elizabeth stayed when she received word of her fathers King George VI death They were up early in the morning and travelled in a six passenger van while on the game drive and saw elephants lions and all the wild animals you could think of They crossed the equator twice so the heat of the day was intense Nevertheless it was a trip of a lifetime Trip to Greece Allison of 2 and Helen Pinkney of R both of Georgetown have returned home following a twoand ahalf week to Greece Following their arrival they boarded a cruise ship for a week s cruise of the Meditera and Aegean Sea stopping at different ports including the Isle of Rhodes as well as a port Turkey A weeks stay at Athens was en joyed as they toured the city as well as the outlying countryside The party of 10 also included Babe Hyland of Georgetown Florence Lyons of Brampton and Madeline Jackson of 85th birthday The family of Dorothy Cunn of Georgetown formerly of 1 celebrated her birthday November 23 with a buffet dinner in her home There were crafts to fit anyones imagination Everything from wooden toys quilts knitted and crocheted items jewellery ceramics cloth dolls to paintings by Linda Donais fill ed both floors of the community centre Scores upon scores of pie passed by the various booths throughout the day making the sale one of the most successful to date Specials thanks go out to Santa who delighted children and adults alike Santas elf Karen Smith was kept busy snapping pictures of thrilled kids sitting with San Diane Hoare dressed as a clown brought many a smile as she handed out candy Betty Cox and Brenda Sinclair both receiv a Linda limited edition print as winners of the draws put on by the artist herself Lisa MacNeil won the Guess the Number of Jelly Beans con test while Betty McEachern won the beautiful Santa cake baked by Edith Volmar It was Edith Kathenne French and Kathy Snelhng who worked so hard all day serving at the bake table Many thanks to to all the kind people who contributed The first part of the home cooked dinner was served up quickly and all the veggies as well as the turkey and dressing were hot and were top ped off by good hot gravy Then along with coffee or tea were the pies to choose of every variety But with all this good food was the dinner nunc supplied by Davidson by Willis Jar vis and Scotty Music mostly oldies with some Christmas ones tossed in to let you know that Christmas is on the way But what made the more enjoyable was the fact you could visit with the folks around the table and hear what they had to say and still hear the soft music in the
