in Burlington taking sixth place overall finish Six Halton Hills Gymnasts competed in Burlington on December 1st their first of The Leaver Hurricane won three straight games in the popular Buffalo Tournament to reach the semifinals with the Mississaufja Reps Amherst and Barrie teams Due to the luck of the draw their first two games were against league rivals On November 29 the Hurricanes played their first game against the Oakville Rangers Halton scored first on a pretty goal by Todd Miller Justin Davis minutes later finished off a Peter pass to make it 20 closed off the period on a hard wrist shot from a Jon Alley rebound to gve Halton a 30 lead The Hurricanes took an even greater lead when Davis made it 10 Jamie Walker with a minute left in the second took passes from Miller and overpowered and outgunned by the Oakville Trafalgar Red Devils If Georgetown plans to avenge their defeat the next time the two squads meet on the court they will have to do two things one shut down offensive star Andy Rober and two know where Red Devil playmaker Ryan Taylor is at all times Oakville Trafalgar took the early lead in last Wednesday s games with some strong offensive passing particularly by Ryan Taylor The Red Devils were par ticularly effective with their rebounds The Rebels seem to make their way into the key in the first quarter Georgetown came back in the second quarter with some sue cessful dnves to the net but during shots inside the key weren t able to capitalize on their offensive reboua ds the way O T was The score at the half was for the Red Devils Oakville Trafalgar kept up their strong offence in the second half led by Andy Robertson who scored 25 points in the game The Rebels were more intense in the second half breaking up Red Devil dnves to the net and coming out on top during several fights for posession However the Red Devils pulled ahead in the fourth quarter with three by Robertson and great passing by Taylor Georgetown was simply unable to mount any type of comeback and took the loss High scorers for the Rebels were John Cruise with 22 points Adam Poyntz points and netting points was John J Icklng The Rebels next game is tomorrow Thursday at St Thomas Aquinas and their next home game is Dec vs White Oaks A day at the rink Georgetown hockey youths Joshua Hunt left and Travis cheer on their big brother Jason and Ryan
