Doug and Sue Horner Moffat Pamela Bob Kipfer Get well wishes Get well wishes to Edna Kerr formerly of 2 and now of Brampton Edna fell and broke her leg badly and is now back in the Nursing Home follow ing a slay at Peel Memorial Hospital Edna would be pleased to hear from any of her old neighbors meeting United Church unit II met at the home of Crawford on Jan The new President for 1992 Mary Crawford welcomed everyone and opened the meeting by reading the minister Rev Ann New Year The devotion was taken by the executive Gayle read a reading and the scripture Gwen read a New Year article Phyllis Moffat led in prayer The programs for the year were planned The members were reminded that the annual meeting is Feb following church a congregational dinner will be held followed by the annual meeting February meeting will be held Feb at the home of Van Nixon s group will be in charge of the meeting Old Crowe Letter Special guests at Unit one of Norval United Church s January meeting were former members Eunice Wilson and her daughter in law Ruth Moore bothofOrton Eunice was a devoted member of our unit for many years as well as the church However for the past two years she has been living at the farm home of her son Harry Moore and his wife the former Ruth Wilson Before Ruth was married 30- ago she played an impor tant part in every office of the church as well as being organist for a number of years Also join our group was the Rev Ann Rowsell when members and guests enjoyed noon luncheon at the Chateau Restaurant Georgetown Following the luncheon everyone gathered at the home of Kay Wilson President Dorothy McLean opened with two lovely poems Secret Strength by Eaveckson Tada a quadriplegic and God s Awesome Crea tions by Helen Sterner Rice Marian Laird read the scrip ture from job Agnes Millar had the study and chose to read a letter she had received before Christmas from the Anglican Mission Old Crowe at the time the caribou were migrating south for the winter Old Crowe is situated on the Porcupine River north of the tic Circle The letter was written by the Anglican missionary wife and thanked Agnes for sen up yam and wool The native people had knit mils socks scarves etc and with the money they made from selling these at a bazaar sent the proceeds to another mission less fortunate than they The people like bright colors as you can see them better in the dark She wrote about a weeks boat on the Porcupine River visiting other missions They shot a caribou skined it and cut it up and packed it in the boat The next mission stop they helped the people smoke the meat The Bishop of the Yukon flies his own plane At a Mission Ser vice at Old Crowe he told them they were the richest christians that ever lived on the earth The letter went on to relate everyday living The business part of the meeting had two get well cards signed by members to Ella a patient of Peel Memorial Hospital and INorval News Catherine who is a resident of Southbrook Retirement Home Brampton A Pancake Supper will be March 3 Day of prayer in Norval United Church Buck and Glenn Laidlaw will be in charge of the annual bus June 2 The executive of Unit one
