12 Sports THE NEW TANNER Third place in round robin play for Atom AE Tanners During the Christmas break, the getconnected. ca Atom AE Acton Tanners participated in the Hespeler Olympics hockey tournament, playing a three game round robin, losing the first two games against the Orangeville Flyers and Flamborough Sabres, but beating the Grimsby Kings in the third, to finish the round robin in third place. The Tanners met the Kings again in the finals for the Bronze metal. It was an evenly matched game, the teams were tied up most of the game, until the Kings scored with only 1:53 left in the game to put them ahead. Despite the team's incredible effort, the Tanners were unable to come back with their own goal and they lost the game 3-2. On January 2, the Ta n n e r s t r a v e l l e d t o Flamborough to kick off the New Year with a barn burner against the Sabres. This two-hour weekly program is scheduled for the 6:45-8:45 pm time slot. It is taught by Level Two instructors and takes participants through structured lessons on all aspects of the sport. It includes both group and individualized training. In addition to learning the sport's most critical components -- delivery balance, line of delivery and rock release -- participants get lots of time for practice of techniques. They'll also do skills' drills and get into mini-games as part of the program. The cost of this program is $125.00 per person [including HST]. three forwards back, just to see what would hap pen. Both teams turned on the pressure in the third, forcing Tanners goalie Owen Ferguson to make some incredible saves. The Tanners found themselves on a six on four power play for the last minute of the game, and had the crowd on their feet, but despite the extra attacker and many great shots, they just couldn't tie it up and the gamed ended in a 3-2 loss for the Tanners.
