4 Superior, two years without an accident Acton's Superior Glove Works celebrated a milestone on Monday two years accident free in the workplace. Workplace safety has been on the public radar over the past several years, partly due to Workplace Safety Insurance Board's more aggressive awareness campaign, but also because of several shocking jobsite fatalities. John Van Lenthe, a consultant with Workplace Safety and Prevention Services of Ontario, congratulated Superior and reminded employees to connsider with pride their own contribution to the world of workplace safety: the hand protection the company produces for all types of jobs. Superior joined the WSPS's THE NEW TANNER THURSDAY, JANUARY 20, 2011 Safety Groups program three years ago in order to improve their safety culture, so Monday's lunch was a chance to thank the employees for their cooperation and hard work so far. Company president Tony Geng told his staff, "We all work together here to supply gloves that protect millions of working hands around the world. So it makes sense that we would work hard to together to have a safe workplace. We have such a strong safety culture that we have worked two years accident free. That is now over 250,000 hours worked without a lost time accident. I am very proud of everyone here for helping us reach that milestone."
