Last Tuesday, no trace of CO was found at a Rennie Street residence where the alarm had sounded at 10:17 a.m. Firefighters found no trace of CO when they were called to a Cobblehill Road residence for a CO alarm activation at 5:51 p.m. last Monday. Arts Alive awards Members of Heritage Acton and the Acton Agricultural Society were among those honoured with Arts Alive Awards, which were handed out on Friday as part of the Halton Hills Cultural Roundtable symposium at the Town Hall Centre. The awards are presented every five years to honour local volunteers, groups and businesses that have shown excellence in their fields. The Visual, Performing and/or Literary Arts were presented to: · Roper Galloway for his vision and tireless effort informing the Halton Hills Concert Band · Linda Leask for visual arts excellence in designing and producing sets and backdrops for the Georgetown Little Theatre · Librarian Jane Diamanti and former Librarian Betsy Cornwell for their longterm vision and tenacity for improving and expanding libraries in Acton and Georgetown The Culture Awards were presented to: · The Acton Agricultural Society for exemplifying the traditions of running a successful Fall Fair · Doug and Mary Lou Brock for restoring and converting aging buildings in Glen Williams into the Williams Mill Art Centre · Councillor Jane Fogal for her commitment to Halton Hills' cultural and natural heritage The Heritage Awards went to: · Members of Heritage Acton for their tenacity in restoring the Acton Town Hall back to its original glory · Councillor Ann Lawlor for her tireless efforts for the restoration of Deveraux House · Mark Rowe for his longterm service to Heritage Halton Hills and his contribution to heritage through his books · A special Lifetime Achievement Award was presented posthumously to the late Barbara Halsall for her founding work with P.O.W.E.R ­ Protect Our Water and Environmental Resources ­ that stopped plans to turn the Acton quarry into a dump for Toronto garbage The Ralph Ursel Award for volunteerism went to: · Acton's Mary Bilik Udell for her "brilliant and quiet" work to costume 42 shows over 20 years at Georgetown Globe Musical Productions The Kenneth R. Harrison Award for Youth Mentorship was presented to: · Sam Hancock for his extensive work and mentorship with students and Georgetown High School The Patrons of the Arts Award was accepted by: Acton and Georgetown business owners Al and Lois Fraser for their continued financial support of arts, culture and heritage groups, individuals and causes The Local Business Partner Award went to : · Paul C.
