Submitted photo Scouts/Guides celebrate 100 years One hundred years of Scouting in Acton and 100 years of Guiding in Canada will be celebrated on February 20 with a parade, special church service and a meet-and-greet. "We hope all of the people involved in Scouting and Guiding will come and help us celebrate," said organizer George Henderson on Monday, adding they are looking to borrow Scouting/Guiding photos and memorabilia to set up displays. "We have photos and badges and patches and a lot of information dug up by (local historian) Mark Rowe when he wrote his Scouting in Acton booklet in 1980," Henderson said, adding one surprise item on loan is a 1942 Scouting shirt worn by Acton Citizen Band bandmaster George Elliott. "We have been able to dig up a lot of names of former Scouters we have one from 1937 who lives in Guelph and Size: 5.145 in. x 1.562 in. there are several people in town from 1939, 1040 and through the decades. We are sending out the invitations and hope they will come with their families." The celebration begins with a parade from the Scout Hall to Trinity United Church where they will participate in a church service.
