8 Bearcats ranked 10 The Acton High School senior girls' volleyball team is 10th in Ontario after competing last week at OFSAA the Ontario Federation of Schools Athletic Associations championships in Belleville. The Bearcats made it to the consolation final where they were defeated 21-25, 25-23, and 15-12 by the Toronto District Catholic High School team. "It was a tough one to swallow they had a good team," said Coach Angela Kennedy following the championship. After a hard fought, physical game, the game ended in a 2-2 draw. The Storm had a slight edge in the play for most of the first period which finished deadlocked at 0-0, as Chargers' Mathew Lantz came up with some big saves. There was more of the same in the second, until the Chargers started to take over the play. But after hemming the Storm in their end and ringing a few shots off the post, they weren't able to break the tie and it remained scoreless after two. The Chargers fought right back and just a minute later Dominic Gear slid a pass to Michael Haggett who went in and beat the goalie to tie the game at 1-1. After the Storm managed to go take another lead, the Chargers fought back again with three minutes left as Haggett banged in his second of the game after being setup in front by Roberto Ferraioli and Jaret Rosenburg. The Chargers finished strong and kept the puck in the Storm end for the final minutes but weren't able to notch the winner. The Chargers' next action will at the Jordan March Break Select Tournament, and March 27 when they host the Storm for a return match at home. Current Community News.
