6 Starting May 1 there will be an increase in the price of Friday Lunches. The soup and sandwich lunch price has remained the same for 14 years. The new prices are posted at the Centre. On visiting the grocery store I am sure everyone realizes that the price of all food has gone up significantly, and after many years of keeping the prices the same, it was felt we had to have an appropriate increase. THE NEW TANNER THURSDAY, MARCH 17, 2011 Twenty-five seniors enjoyed seeing Naughty Knickers at the Mohawk Dinner Theatre last week. We are now looking forward to the November performance of Sinners. I understand the dinner during November will be the "Festive menu" which was delicious last year. I know I had several helpings of the sea food cannelloni. If you are ready to kick up your heels and feel that Spring is just around the corner, don't forget to get your ticket for the Acton and Georgetown joint Spring dance on Friday, April 8 at 7:30 p.m. This will be the third one. Tickets are on sale at both the Acton and Georgetown Seniors Centres. The travel desk has two trips planned. In April, you can travel west to Stirling to see a matinee performance of Hats the musical. The price includes a buffet lunch, and in May, they are going to see Jesus Christ Superstar. This also includes a buffet lunch at the Queens Inn followed by the matinee performance at the Avon Theatre in Stratford. Lots of exciting things to do. If you would like something a little quieter and creative, you can join our scrap booking group on the last Monday of each month at 7 p.m., or on Thursday evenings at 7 p.m. to learn how to create a three dimensional picture using Paper Tole. On Wednesday afternoons, the water colour class meets. If you are interested in participating in the Spring Sessions of the Active Living Programs registration starts March 9. The Chair Yoga and Bone Builder classes will be held on Mondays starting April 4, which will be more convenient for many people and will not conflict with the Tuesday afternoon presentations and movies. At Thursday afternoon's Bid Euchre both Shirley Hunter and Elma Braida had mooners. The 50/50 was not won this week, so the amount to be won should be around $150. The Regional Municipality of Halton www.halton.ca NOTICE OF PUBLIC INFORMATION CENTRE #2 Transportation Master Plan to 2031 - The Road to Change PR-2414 Background Halton Region has initiated a Transportation Master Plan (TMP) The Road to Change to develop a sustainable, integrated transportation plan and associated strategies that consider all modes of travel (automobiles, transit, cycling, walking) to the year 2031. Problem Statement The Master Plan will provide the strategies, policies and tools required to meet the Region's transportation needs safely, effectively and cost efficiently. The Process This Transportation Master Plan is a study which defines existing problems/opportunities, considers and evaluates solutions, and will identify an optimum transportation system to the year 2031. A key outcome of the study is a list of transportation projects that the Region can incorporate in its 20-year Roads Capital Program. To comply with the Environmental Assessment Act, the study is being conducted in accordance with the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (EA) process (October 2000, as amended in 2007). The first round of Public Information Centres were held March 2010 to present the study background, vision, guiding principles, and problems and opportunities.
