Kelly Kennedy Photo Sharks claim title The Active Choice Sharks are the champions of Acton Ladies Hockey. The Sharks defeated DNR Contracting Devils 3 0 for the title. Daina McKellar led the Shark attack with two goals and an assist. McKellar scored late in the first period from Janet Garton. Karen McDonald buldged the twine in the second period from McKellar and Garton. McKellar put the game out of reach, scoring on a breakaway mid way through the third period. Karen McDonald earned the assist. Both goalies, Louise Kuenzig of the Devils and Kristy Hayward of the Sharks played well. Hayward of the Sharks was flawless getting the shutout. "The quality of ladies hockey continues to improve each year," said Shark coach Rick Bonnette. It took overtime for the Acton Optical Lightning to defeat Smooth & Trendzy Cougars 1 0. Lightning goalie Joanne Cooper and Cougar goalie Janette Jensen took turns making big saves. Rocchina Gesualdo fired the winning goal for the Lightning, three minutes into overtime from Annette Kroezen for the Lightning win.
