Reduce your waste--use reusable shopping bags or bins when visiting the grocery store or mall. www.halton.ca 3Rs of Plastic Bags Recycle Take It Back! Halton Take plastic shopping bags back to local retailers to be recycled. Look for a bin at the front of the store, or ask at the customer service desk. Take It Back! Halton partners easily recycle plastic shopping bags into more bags or into plastic lumber because the bags don't have to be sorted and are not contaminated from other materials. Halton Region has completed the Schedule C Class Environmental Assessment study for the Acton Wastewater Treatment Plant located at 202 Churchill Drive, Halton Hills. The preferred strategy is to construct additional wastewater capacity at the existing plant. Background As part of the Environmental Assessment Study, Public Information Centre meetings were held on June 26, 2007 and November 16, 2010. The first Public Information Centre provided background information, a long list of alternatives to increase wastewater capacity and the proposed evaluation criteria. The second Public Information Centre presented the preferred strategy and recommended design concept for the proposed plant expansion. Input and comments received from key stakeholders such as residents, Credit Valley Conservation and the Ministry of the Environment were incorporated into the Environmental Study Report (ESR). Environmental Study Report (ESR) By this Notice, the ESR is being placed on the public record for review. The 30-day public review period begins on March 31, 2011 and ends May 4, 2011. The ESR is available on the project website: www.halton.ca/EAs. A paper copy of the ESR is also available for public review at the following locations: The following stores demonstrate their commitment to the environment by providing residents with the opportunity to recycle plastic bags: Burlington Food Basics, 5353 Lakeshore Road Food Basics, 1505 Guelph Line Fortinos, 1059 Plains Road East Fortinos, 5111 New Street Fortinos, 2025 Guelph Line Home Depot, 3050 Davidson Court Longo's, 2900 Walkers Line Longo's, 1225 Fairview Street Metro, 2010 Appleby Line Metro, 3365 Fairview Street Sobeys, 1250 Brant Street The Bay, Burlington Mall, 777 Guelph Line The Bay, Mapleview Centre, 900 Maple Avenue Walmart, 4515 Dundas Street West Zellers, Burlington Mall, 777 Guelph Line Zellers, Millcroft Centre, 2000 Appleby Line Halton Hills Food Basics. 235 Guelph Street, Georgetown Metro, 100 Sinclair Avenue, Georgetown Metro, 367 Mountainview Road, Georgetown Sobeys, 372 Queen Street East, Acton Walmart, 300 Guelph Street, Georgetown Zellers, 300 Guelph Street, Georgetown No plastic bags in the Blue Box Don't put plastic shopping bags in the Blue Box. Plastic bags get caught in the sorting facility's machinery and conveyor belts, or they get static-clung to glass leading to contamination. Don't put Blue Box material in clear or blue plastic bags because it only creates additional waste (the bag is ripped open and the bag goes to landfill). Only put recyclable materials at the curb in a Blue Box. Recyclable materials in plastic bags will not be collected.
