THURSDAY, APRIL 28, 2011 Local volunteers honoured by Links2Care Nineteen volunteers who have donated their talents and a combined 165 years of their time to Links2Care were honoured at a volunteer appreciation luncheon last Thursday at the Ballinafad Community Hall. With the theme "You Take the Cake" each of the 60 volunteers on hand received a cupcake, handmade and decorated by students at Acton High School for the event. "You know we appreciate everything thing that you do," executive director Sandra Melhuish told the crowd, adding it is not easy to do with continued pressure from their funders to deliver the same level of service with the same amount of money. Melhuish played a new 15-minute video showcasing Links2Care's cradle to grave services, including the Early Years Centre, employment help, home care and seniors' services like Meals on Wheels with 140 staff and over 200 volunteers. Two Links2Care volunteers Acton's Rena Arbic and Real Tetreault were honoured for receiving Halton Cheers to Volunteers awards.
