Special Waste Drop-off Days are for Halton residents only. Commercial waste, tires, reuse materials (clothing, etc.), metal and appliances are not accepted. Austin Operations Centre 11620 Trafalgar Road, Georgetown Spring Compost Give Away 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Halton Waste Management Site 5400 Regional Road 25, Milton Thanks to the participation of Halton residents, approximately 32,000 tonnes of yard waste was composted last year and turned into rich, garden-friendly compost. Halton residents are invited to come to the Compost Give Away and pick up some of this compost as a "thank you" for diverting this usable material away from the landfill, thereby extending its life! All Halton households are welcome to collect a maximum of seven bags (or equivalent) of compost. Please bring your own bags/containers (garbage bags, yard waste bags, reusable containers) and shovel. The following materials will be accepted for drop off free of charge: Household Hazardous Waste Acceptable materials: pesticides, paint, stains, motor oil, antifreeze, varsol, fuels, cleaners, pool chemicals, pharmaceuticals, propane tanks, household batteries, car batteries, and fluorescent tubes and bulbs. Residents are responsible for shovelling and bagging their own compost. Non-perishable food items or cash donations will be gratefully accepted on behalf of Halton area Food Banks. Your donations make a difference! Helpful Hint: When applying compost to your gardens, ensure you blend it with topsoil or another gardening fill. Recommended application for best growing results is a 60/40 split (60 per cent topsoil and 40 per cent compost). Unacceptable materials: needles, syringes and lancets, asbestos, commercial and industrial waste, PCBs, explosives, and ammunition. Electronics Acceptable materials: computers, stereos, phones, TVs, VCRs, DVD players and computer monitors Unacceptable materials: metal and appliances, vacuums, and scrap metal Spring cleaning? We can help! Bring your old batteries, paint, compact fluorescent light bulbs, pesticides and cleaners to the Household Hazardous Waste Depot at the Halton Waste Management Site. Making Halton a better place to live, work and retire Gary Carr Regional Chair Halton Hills Household Bulk Waste Collection Suspended in May Bulk waste collection is suspended for one collection cycle in May to accommodate high volumes of yard waste at that time. 3 items maximum Your next bulk waste collection day is: Collection Area 3 Wednesday, June 1 Collection Area 4 Wednesday, June 22 Collection Area 5 Wednesday, June 8 · There is a three item limit per scheduled bulk collection day. Additional items will not be collected. · If an item can fit into a garbage bag or can, it is not bulk waste. Put these items inside a garbage bag or can, and place out for pick up on your regular garbage collection day. Do not exceed the regular six (6) bag/can garbage limit. · Do not pile items on top of one another. Remove all nails and staples. 1 2 3 · All flooring and wood must be bundled, and be no larger than 0.6 m x 1.2 m (2 ft x 4 ft). · Ensure only the items you want collected are at the curb. Personal items left at the curb may be mistakenly collected by the collection truck or scavenged by other residents. · Items collected for bulk are disposed of in the landfill.
