Jack Carpenter photos Comrades, On May 30, at our last meeting of the former executive, President George DeRabbie thanked Comrades Joyce Buchanan, Tom Grant and Dave Maloney for their past service to the Legion in their various roles. This was followed by the first meeting of the new executive where President DeRabbie assigned specific jobs to each member. For a complete listing of these jobs and which members will be responsible check out our website at rclbr197. org or check the membership board in the front foyer which will be changed in the near future. I will be fulfilling the role as PRO and am looking forward to the job. I would personally like to thank Comrade Wayne Young, our second Vice-President for the wonderful job he has done in this role over the past year. Last Sunday, was Decoration Day. Many members helped place Geraniums on our veterans' graves. We thank them for their participation along with Comrades Ab Irwin and Keith Andrews who organize this day each year. First-Vice Peg Graham and myself are preparing a scrapbook of Legion events for the scrapbook contest held by the Legion. After this is returned to the Branch, it will be displayed for member's perusal. It will contain pictures of events that have taken place over the last year at the Branch. Don't forget to come down on Saturday afternoon and have fun socializing with other members. Many thanks go out to the Legion members who came out on Sunday to plant Geraniums in memory of our members for Decoration Day. At least there was no rain this year. Don't forget, the general meeting is Monday, June 13 at 8 p.m. for all members. Ladies Auxiliary Notes At June's meeting, we had 36 members present. This was our pot luck meeting and like usual, the food was excellent and we ate too much. Thanks to our Liason John Wagg for his special treat. Pot Luck was followed with the General Meeting and the door prize was won by Rhona Thornhill. We will be donating a bursary to two students, one from MacKenzie-Bennett and one from St. Joseph Catholic School at the end of June. The Auxiliary presented Joyce Buchanan with a Ladies Auxiliary Service Medal for all her work to the Auxiliary. Joyce has now officially retired from the Executive, but will still be an active member when she can. Thank you Joyce for all your dedicated service as a Executive Member. The trip to St. Jacob's was enjoyed by all the ladies who had attended, and thank you to Susan for arranging this outing. Thank you to all the Ladies Auxiliary Members who came to dig holes on Saturday (we were lucky we did not get wet) and the ladies who came out on Sunday to plant Geraniums in memory of our members for Decoration Day. On June 12 Norma and I will attend the District Sports Meeting at Mt. Hamilton Legion. On June 18, Acton is hosting the Qualifying Round for District Euchre. Norma needs your help for sandwiches, set up, etc., so please call her to help, especially all the ladies who participate in sports, it is your duty to help with these functions. It is not always play. Also we need some more ladies to help make up another team call Norma. Keep in mind, we have Banquets through the summer. Please volunteer your time to help. Call Dolores if you can help serve and do dishes. I would like to take this time to wish all the members a safe and healthy summer, and to those members who are not well, here is hoping you will soon be on the mend.
