THURSDAY, APRIL 21, 2011 THE NEW TANNER 15 Mayor's Corner By Rick Bonnette The Town of Halton Hills, its Council and staff would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the volunteers in our community who continue to give of themselves to the many worthwhile causes. In the busy pace of life volunteers always make the time to ensure that an activity, program, project, campaign or event is a success. Volunteers utilize their skills, experience and passion for so many individuals and organizations in our Town. Much of what we have accomplished is the direct result of the contributions of our local community volunteers. Let's celebrate our everyday heroes and thank them for helping to make our community a wonderful place to live. This National Volunteer Week, be sure to say thank you to a volunteer. **** Thanks to everyone who participated in the Town of Halton Hills Earth Day Community Clean Up on Saturday, April 16. Your efforts go along way in keeping our community clean. Special thanks to Councillor Jane Fogal and the litter free committee, as well as Town staff and sponsors in assisting in the organization of this day. And don't forget to visit our public works yard from 8 a.m. 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 30 for free mulch, wood chips and a burger on us. **** Speaking of litter...of a different kind. Some of our dog owners are forgetting to stoop and scoop after fido. You are making the rest of us responsible dog owners look bad. Please pick up after your pets. **** Congratulations to Dianne Penrice on her achieving the Citizen of the Year Award for 2010 for Georgetown. **** Congratulations to the Acton Legion that is celebrating its 80th Anniversary of Branch 197. **** Congratulations to: · Laurama Productions on their book launch in Acton · Skin Candy Tattoo on its grand opening · Clean Rides Inc. in Acton on their grand opening · HealthSpan Wellness on their grand opening in Georgetown **** Please be sure to vote in the Federal Election on Monday May 2. **** Keeping it real.
