The weekly 50/50 will be drawn on Thursday April 21. The members of the Acton Seniors Centre are resting after a very busy social week, starting with the joint Acton and Georgetown dance at the Acton Legion last Friday. Seventy Eight members and guests enjoyed dancing to the music of D.J. Elio Anselmini. Thanks to everyone who helped make it a great success, whether by helping set up, preparing and donating food, donating door prizes, or selling tickets. I was going to list everyone but quickly realized that there were too many names to mention, and I would hate to miss anyone out. Everyone agreed we should have another in the Fall, so I have booked the Legion for Friday, September 23. Monday evening we celebrated all things Dutch. The tables were decorated with orange tablecloths and vases of beautiful tulips. The door prizes were spectacular tulips in flower, growing in large containers. The delighted winners were Anna Arnold, Barb Weldon, Connie Crawford, Debbie Rennie, Agate VanRyn, Mary Walsma, Marj McDonough, Coreen Somers, Margaret Walker, John Walker, Grace Silvis, Linda Vanderlaan, Willy Veerman, and Barry Peters, the Liberal candidate for our riding. The 50/50 was won by Marion Hamzavi. Stacey Kaniuk is a very accomplished young lady who delighted us with her singing while playing the piano. Once again, we were up dancing. The food was delicious food. There were many guests with a Dutch heritage, and I was told it was typical of a Dutch meal. We hope to see them again at other events. The next social dinner will be on May 12, when we celebrate Mother's Day. On Tuesday, a bus of seniors trotted off to Elora and Mohawk to try their luck on the slot machines. If you have your name down to golf at Blue Springs, could you please pay in the next week? The golf list has a waiting list, so we need to make sure everyone is planning on playing. I also have to confirm numbers with Mohawk, so please pay for the Mohawk trip in the next two weeks. Last week, a bus full of seniors from Acton and Georgetown enjoyed a trip to Grand River Elora Casino, returning by way of Mohawk Slots where they spent a couple of hours. I understand they were treated royally. I expect to see them all wearing the snazzy Tshirts they received. Marie Richardson won the 50/50 draw on the bus. The 50/50 should be around $450 next week, as it was not won again this week.
