Hockey Foundation thanks Town The Town of Halton Hills received a plaque of thanks from the Minor Hockey Foundation of Ontario recently, thanking the Town for its contribution, which allowed a clinic to be held here last spring. The Foundation's program provides children from lowincome families with the opportunity to receive free hockey equipment, a subsidy towards their registration and a day of hockey skills instruction. The Foundation works with the Halton Hills chapter of JumpStart to provide this headstart for needy kids. 3 Independent & Free Press, Friday, January 1, 2010 Georgetown Alliance Church Sunday Services* at 9:00 & 11:00 am *A Nursery & Junior Worship are offered during both services 290 Main St. (S. of Maple) 905-873-0249 www.togetheratgac.com KNOX PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH God's Word for Today's World. www.knoxgeorgetown.ca REV. "There's been huge, huge traffic coming by since the article appeared," says Kathy Lambert. "The story has made a huge difference on how many cars have driven by to see it." Lambert said, for the most part, the neighbours have been quite supportive, but she said there was one complaint on YouTube claiming there was too much traffic going through the area. "But most of our neighbours have said to ignore the complaint," said Lambert. "Just do it-- so we have." Lambert said not only have the lights been a popular attraction, the donation box at the end of the driveway has reflected the increase in drive-by sightseers. "We're expecting to have about $3,000 to donate to Georgetown Hospital Foundation by the time we're done," said Lambert. "The lights will be on until January 10, so there is still time to drop by and make a donation. Not one penny of what we collect is kept for us-- it's all going to the Foundation." For those who haven't seen the display, and wish to donate to the cause, the Lambert lights can be seen at 14 Johnson Crescent, and are on weeknights from 5 to 11 p.m. and weekends 5 p.m. until midnight.
