24 Independent & Free Press,Thursday, February 4, 2010 Concert raises $7,000 for Haiti St. John's United Church Choir, augmented with friends from the Georgetown Choral Society, presented a two-hour benefit concert, Hymns for Haiti, in support of the people of Haiti on Saturday, Jan. 30. St. John's United Church used the power of music and song at their benefit to encourage the local community to offer solidarity and support for the people of Haiti. In addition to sharing choir anthems, instrumental reflections and hymns, those in attendance learned more about the ongoing work of Healing Hands for Haiti from Eric Doubt, Georgetown resident and executive director of this North American-based rehabilitation foundation. A free will collection at the event raised $7,000, which will be shared equally with Team Canada Healing Hands Inc. and the ACT International Alliance (Action by Churches Together).
