10 Independent & Free Press, Tuesday,February 16, 2010 Ducks fly high at meet Laura Lobelio and Lili Paradi of the Acton Aqua Ducks were frequent visitors to the medal podium at the 33rdannual Cindy Nicholas Swim Classic in Scarborough, which featured competitors from around the province. Both swimmers earned three race victories and a runner-up finish in another to spearhead a strong team effort from the Aqua Ducks that included several personal-best performances. Among the highlights for Georgetown skaters was a 17-second improvement for seven-year-old Allana Zettler in the 500m event and nine-year-old David Bazso (above right) took a dozen seconds off his personal best over the same distance. Six-year-old Ray Buchanan shaved a few seconds off his previous best times in each of his 111m, 222m and 333m events, while Sarah Buchanan, 9, eightyear-old newcomer Matthew Bain, 10-year-old Karenna Haefner of Acton (right) and Georgetown South's Kelsey Carr also turned in strong efforts on the day.
