4 Independent & Free Press,Thursday, February 25, 2010 Police blotter Man charged after grow-op found A Halton Hills man is facing charges after Halton Police found a marijuana grow operation in a barn on Boston Church Rd. Monday. Police executed a search warrant and seized 96 marijuana plants from a locked room in the barn on the property. A further search of the barn revealed approximately 14.4 grams of cannabis resin. The seizure is estimated at $96,000. Charged with production of a controlled substance, possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a controlled substance is Robert Kerklaan, 38, of Halton Hills. Kerklaan was held for a bail hearing in Milton Feb. 23 and remanded to March 1. ··· Two Halton Hills men are facing charges in connection with theft from autos in Erin recently. Wellington OPP officers received a call from an alert motorist passerby who reported seeing two people on the Eramosa-Erin Townline near Wellington Rd. 124. Police say they were acting suspicious and may have been going through parked cars in the area. Police responded and found two males near some vehicles in a driveway. One man was apprehended and the other fled on foot. The K-9 unit was brought in, and found the male involved about 8 kilometres south hiding near a home. Police recovered a quantity of cash, $100 in coins, an iPod, flashlight, two 30/30 Winchester bullets and a store gift card, which people believe were taken from autos in the area. Charged with theft under $5,000, possession of a firearm while prohibited and trespass by night is Dean Gregory Bagley, 35, of Georgetown. Also charged with theft under $5,000 is Jeffrey Robert McBean, 23, of Acton. McBean and Bagley are to appear in Guelph court April 12. ··· A Georgetown man is facing a drug charge after Halton Police seized a quantity of a controlled substance believed to be marijuana from a vehicle on Mountainview Rd. about 2:30 a.m. Saturday. Charged with possession of a controlled substance is Richard Andre Smith, 21. ··· An Oakville man was charged after Halton Police received calls from citizens about a possible impaired driver in the Guelph St. and Mountainview Rd. area Friday about 9:10 p.m. A child had been seen in the vehicle. Police responded and found the vehicle in the parking lot of a restaurant in that area. The driver was alone. Charged with impaired driving and having over 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood is Zoltan Kaslik, 45, of Oakville. ··· The rear window in a truck parked at a Prince Charles Dr. home was smashed out sometime late Friday or early Saturday. Damage is $1,200. ··· The front window in the Get the Scoop Creamery on Main St. in Georgetown was smashed sometime early Saturday. Damage is $500.
