They point you in the right direction, encourage you to explore unexpected detours, take you down routes you might have missed and keep you company during the flat, boring stretches. The same can be said of artistic journeys, which is why six local artists got together to form Innerscapes 10 years ago. The art group-- which includes Bea Dumbreck, Herta Hajek, Tizi Manierka, George Perdue, Eileen Simpson and Jan Zimmerman-- meets once a week to discuss art, learn new techniques and offer support and encouragement as they pursue their individual artistic journeys. All six members have very different styles, subjects and inspirations, but are brought together by a shared need to keep learning and moving forward on their chosen routes. "Everybody travels their own path and when we feel shaky or overwhelmed, we have someone to pull us back on our path and to remind us every now and then to keep going," says Manierka, who was one of the catalysts in the group's formation.
