The Youth Caucus of POWER is made up of Halton youths David Borgal and Jesse Paragamian of Georgetown, Bethany Winstone of Acton, Kirsten Falkenburger and Laurel Greig of Oakville, and Dayna Noltie of Milton. The work on the Accord started at the Second International Youth Accord on Biodiversity in Ottawa in 2008 where POWER's youth were delegates and took a leadership role from the beginning. The group is excited about the official launch of the accord to gather "Now the goal is for everyone to find out about and sign the Accord. The more people who sign the Accord, the more impact it will have in Japan," said Noltie. The POWER youth from Halton will join other youth from around the world in Japan to present the Accord to world leaders at the conference. "We have been invited by the United Nations to present the Accord in October but our work is far from over," said Borgal. "Our attention is now focusing on the key issues that will be discussed at the COP in October," said Paragamian. "My area of specialization will be inland waters for the COP and I hope that I can convince the world leaders that inland waters are more important than people make it out to be."
