Apr. 10 Register Today BIA boundary decision deferred By CYNTHIA GAMBLE Staff Writer Approval of the expanded boundaries for the Georgetown BIA has been deferred to the March 22 council meeting. The deferral will allow for further discussions between the Town and the BIA board. "This will give us a chance to review the options," said Wards 3&4 Regional Councillor Jane Fogal, council's representative on the board. These could include varying the percentages of levies paid by businesses within the BIA district. Boundary expansion approval was initially deferred at a February 8 meeting after an affected merchant, Rob Arsenault of Fred's Towing, complained about a lack of information on the proposal. Town staff then set up a meeting between the BIA and two affected Guelph St. merchants-- not Arsenault who had met informally earlier with the BIA. The business organization is requesting the boundary expansion to align the BIA borders with the boundary of Downtown Georgetown as defined in the Town's Official Plan.
