20 Independent & Free Press,Thursday, March 18, 2010 Welcome Floor repairs delay seniors' spring classes By FLORENCE RIEHL Georgetown Seniors Centre It will take a couple of weeks to replace the floor in the large room. In the meantime all classes held there have been cancelled. The next spring session for instructed programs begin the week of April 7. If you want your class to go-- and not be cancelled due to lack of signups-- register at least the week before. If sufficient interest is there Square Dancing will start again. You will receive a credit towards your next registration. See Sherry for help with this. *** To clarify the most recent rumour, the increase in membership fees was solely a decision of the Board of Directors and for the reasons outlined at the AGM. There was never any suggestion or influence from the Town to do this. *** Wednesdays, March 17, 24, and 31 are the dates for the mandatory volunteer training for "Affective Customer Service for People With Disabilities". Please sign up at the Reception Desk for one of those dates. The course will run from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. *** Just in time for Easter there will be a chocolate sale at the Centre on Monday, March 29. A portion of the sales will go to the Centre. Personally I like the light chocolate best. Hint! Hint! *** On Thursday, April 1 we are going to hold our annual Easter Tea. Again there will be a prize for the best Easter bonnet. Get your creative juices going and let's look for some really fantastic bonnets. *** Mark your calendars for Saturday, April 10. Why? That is the date set for our fabulous "AllYou-Can-Eat Pancake Breakfast". You don't want to miss this and real maple syrup too. This event is open to the public. *** It is time once more to get involved in the Senior Summer Games. If you are 55+ you can join in the fun and competition.
