V Hurricanes off to OHF bantam tourney Six Georgetown residents are members of the Halton Hurricanes' bantam AAA squad that qualified for next week's Ontario Hockey Federation championships next week in Ottawa after winning the Ontario Minor Hockey Association playdowns last weekend in St. Catharines. Trailing the first-place York-Simcoe Express 3-1 at one point, the Hurricanes rallied for a 5-4 overtime victory in the final of the OMHA tourney. Georgetown's Jacob Harris placed second in tourney scoring with four goals and two assists in five games and set up Carter Verhaeghe's winner in the championship. Acton High School Athletes of the Week are Angelo Meogrossi and Austin Sutherland. Both are members of the Bearcats Swim team, and were chosen for their efforts throughout the season. Meogrossi, a first year swimmer, was selected for his dedication t the team and his improvement in the 50 freestyle and 100 breast stroke. Sutherland was cited for his improvement in the 50 free and 50 back. Georgetown District High School Athletes of the Week are Hillary Banks and Sarah Chapin. Both are members of the senior Rebels volleyball team, who won silver at OFSAA. Banks, playing libero, was considered the best in the tournament. Chapin, playing middle, was cited for her outstanding defensive and offensive play throughout the tournament. Christ the King Catholic High School Athletes of the Week are Dylan Henzelka and Hilary Cosmo. Henzelka, who plays centre on the Jaguar boys hockey team, was chosen for scoring the single goal in a 1-0 win over St. Jean de Brebeuf Catholic High School, to bring home top honours at GHAC. Cosmo, playing defense on the Jaguars' girls hockey team, was selected for her solid defense against MMR in the divisional finals.
