CVC to host grand re-opening of Terra Cotta Conservation Area Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) invites everyone to the grand re-opening of Terra Cotta Conservation Area on Sunday, April 11, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. rain or shine. Admission to the conservation area is free for the day and activities include: · Maple syrup demonstration and free syrup samples · Giveaways, prizes · Wagon rides · Guided nature hikes · Tree nursery tour · Interactive nature displays · Children's colouring contest Pancakes, sausages and beverages will be served from 9 a.m. to noon. The cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children (six to 12 years). Proceeds go to Friends of Terra Cotta in support of the Terra Cotta Centre for Environmental Learning Campaign. At 1 p.m. join us for a piece of cake to celebrate the re-opening of the Terra Cotta Conservation Area at the official ceremony outside the new Visitors Welcome Centre. Terra Cotta Conservation Area is one of the most environmentally-significant natural areas in the Credit River Watershed. In 1958, CVC began acquiring property for Terra Cotta Conservation Area. CVC has initiated a new management plan for Terra Cotta Conservation Area that provides a balance between protection, appreciation and recreation. Terra Cotta Conservation Area now features active recreation programs like hiking, snow shoeing and cross country skiing. The area has three pavilions, all available for group picnics, special events or wedding reservations. The newly-renovated Watershed Learning Centre offers year-round programming and the new Visitors Centre is available for afterhour meetings of up to 20 people.
