ALS Charity Hockey Game Hundreds of people packed the stands of the Mold-Masters SportsPlex to watch the Georgetown Minor Hockey League (GMHA) coaches take on the Halton Hills Firefighters during the second annual ALS Charity Hockey Game on April 3. Both teams received assistance from celebrity players like singer Michael Burgess, former NHLer Pat Hickey, Slap Shot star Dave Hanson and ex-New York Ranger Harry Howell, who helped to coach the GMHA coaches. The biggest round of applause was for Dr. Jeff Sutherland, a longtime Georgetown resident and family doctor who was diagnosed with ALS in 2008. The GMHA coaches won the game 9-5, but the biggest winner was the ALS Society of Ontario, who received the $14,220 raised at the game and the dance afterwards. Armstrong No longer can vehicle owners give their auto insurance a casual glimpse as they have been doing by buying the lowest premium and assuming all insurance and delivery methods are the same. With the advent of Auto Reform to be implemented by September 2010, it will be more essential to stay close to your "broker" for information, direction and advice. Registered Insurance Brokers are skilled people. The Government of Ontario has completed their five year review of Automobile Insurance. Based on claims and higher premiums, it is evident that changes to our rich "Accident Benefits" must occur. Unlike any other province, Ontario drivers and passengers have enjoyed the most comprehensive protection possible through an automobile related accident, but there has been a significant cost to deliver this valuable coverage. This Province, through licensed insurers, will be offering consumers "choice" in determining the amount of "Accident Benefits" they need. Therefore, the Ontario Government will "reduce" the "richness", recommending lower premiums, and leave it up to the each buyer to determine if "buy ups" are warranted. Optional amounts will be obtainable all for a cost. No longer will the "bundle" be automatically provided, but you will have to assess your requirements by knowing how "OHIP", "Group Plans" and personal "Health Care" policies will respond when you are injured in an auto accident, then choose the options available to you. If you choose not to "buy up" and you run out of benefits, the Government wont assume responsibility. They are only offering you "choice". Remember, The Province of Ontario is responding to consumer complaints on the high cost of automobile insurance. They are offering "less" in Accident Benefits, hopefully at a reduced cost. Also remember, that insurance companies still have to pay claims on past and new claims according to current regulation. It is still consumer choice as to where and how you buy your auto insurance, but you will be more responsible for your own actions in the future. Pay attention, get informed and be accountable.
