Acton Seniors bazaar on May 8 By JULIE CONROY Acton Seniors Centre I seem to have spent many weeks talking about the Spring Bazaar, and now it is finally almost here. On Saturday (May 8) the Acton Community Hall/Acton Seniors Centre will be hopping with people purchasing treasures from Grannies' Attic, jewelry from Donna's stall and lots of baking in time for Mother's Day. Hopefully many will be winning prizes from either the Penny Table or other draws. When they need a rest they can stop for a cup of coffee/tea and enjoy a sandwich and dessert in the Centre. If you are looking for a good book to curl up with, we have a great selection of paperbacks ready for the sunny days in the garden or the rainy days curled on the sofa. *** Several people have asked me if I would arrange a trip to the Rose Theatre in Brampton to see a wonderful show, The War Show. They tell me it is a musical and it's very emotional full of tears and laugh- SENIORS LIFESTYLES ter, and captures the spirit of the war years. If you are interested, I need some input. Would you rather go on Wednesday, Aug. 11 for the 7:30 p.m. show and perhaps have dinner at the Mandarin first or second choice, a matinee at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 14 followed by an early dinner at the Mandarin? Please tick off your choice. The cost would probably be around $50. Of course, the price would be less if we just saw the show. *** Betty asked me to mention a trip involving a ride on a "Hippo" on Tuesday, June 15. I bet you have all wanted to ride on a hippo. I understand it is one of the buses that float, so once everyone is aboard it will splash into Lake Ontario and you will have a 90-minute safari and see the landmarks of Toronto from a different perspective. Included is a gourmet buffet lunch at the Old Mill in Toronto. *** The name pulled this week had not been to the Centre to put their loonie in the box , so next week the amount should be around $150. 27 Independent & Free Press, Thursday, May 6, 2010 Seniors Calendar Spring Bazaar and Tea: Acton Seniors Recreation Centre hosts its Spring Bazaar with Tea, crafts, draws, bake table, plants, grannie's attic, and more, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Car wash and Indoor Mom2Mom Sale: Come get your car wash and support the Georgetown Seniors Centre, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Then from 9 a.m. to noon, visit the Indoor Mom2Mom sale of gently used infant and children's clothing, toys, games, books and other large items available for purchase insidetthe Georgetown Seniors Centre.
