Photo by Eamonn Maher CtK pair in provincial competition Local students fare well at Halton skills event Christ the King Secondary School students Stephanie Lewis and Laura Woodhead will be showing off their skills at the Provincial level next week. The Ontario Technological Skills Competition will be held May 17-18 at Waterloo's RIM Park. It is an Olympicstyle, multi-trade and technology competition for more than 1,800 students and apprentices in Ontario. Lewis and Woodhead will be competing in the 2D animation, which is the creation of short series of animation on the computer to create a cartoon. The Grade 12 duo won silver at the Halton Skills competition, and silver again at a Qualifying competition in Niagara last month to win a place at the Provincials. No Georgetown high school students will be at the Provincials, but several placed at the Halton Skills Competition. Georgetown's TV and Video Production duo of Nicole Bond and Erich Knoespel captured top honours bringing home gold medals and the Halton title. They moved on to the Niagara qualifier but were unable to qualify for a place at the Provincials. Georgetown High School competitors who earned bronze medals for their events were David Taylor in Auto Service Nicole Bond and Erich Knoespel of Georgetown District High School captured top honours at the Halton Skills Competition. Public invited to discuss board budget The Halton District School Board is inviting the public to upcoming meetings to discuss the board's 2010-2011 budget. Meetings will take place in each of Halton's four municipalities, including on Tuesday, May 25 at Silver Creek Public School (gymnasium), 170 Eaton St., Georgetown from 7-9 p.m. The purpose of the meetings is to provide people with information regarding education funding in the region.
