12 Independent & Free Press,Thursday, May 27, 2010 Charges dropped against officer Charges against a Halton Regional Police officer in connection with domestic violence incidents in a Georgetown residence last year have been withdrawn. Melanie Fedun, 32, had been charged in March with sexual assault, forcible confinement and three counts of assault. The charges related to three incidents that occurred between February and Nov. 2009 involving the off-duty police officer and her former common-law husband. In the Ontario Court of Justice in Milton Thursday, a special prosecutor from the Hamilton Crown's Office withdrew all the charges against Fedun after determining there wasn't a reasonable prospect of conviction in the case.
