26 Independent & Free Press,Thursday, May 27, 2010 Business women to host evening talking politics The Halton chapter of the Business and Professional Women is encouraging local women to take part in politics by hosting a special evening on Monday, June 7. The aim is to give women a more equal voice in their community. The keynote speaker will be Elinor Caplan, Chief Executive Officer of Canadian Strategies and a former MP, MPP and municipal politician. She will be speaking on behalf of Equal Voice, a non-partisan organization whose mission is to promote the election of more women to all levels of government. The event will be held 6:30-9 p.m. at Ares Restaurant, 232 Guelph St. Also speaking that evening will be Ward 2 Councillor Joan Robson and club president Connie Karlsson who will speak about the benefits of women getting involved in the community, charities and politics. There will be a question and answer period, 8:30-9 p.m. Admission is $10 at the door to cover the cost of hosting the event, but any woman who can't afford that is still welcome to attend.
