The family of the late Mom/Gramma (Jean Evelyn `Rowena') Manes would like to express our deepest gratitude and special thanks to: · the Management and Staff at Eden House Retirement Home for their exceptionally kind compassionate care and their sincere interest to her well-being shown over the past three years --- and Dr. Hosdil for her support during this difficult time; · The MacKinnon Family Funeral Home in Acton for the caring and professional staff and special appreciation to Bob and Margaret MacKinnon for their kind and thoughtful gesture of wrapping our Mom/Gramma in an afghan she had made and they had purchased ... words cannot describe how touched we were; · all those folks (wonderful relatives, friends, neighbours and co-workers) who came to pay their respects and for their overwhelmingly comforting influence at Mom's Celebration of Life; · Kent Toscher, Mom's favourite music star and family friend, created a special CD to be played in her honour; · Reverend Sean Howard for the beautiful service, Ken Clapperton for his thoughtful heartfelt eulogy, "Oscar's Angels" for their touching tribute to their Gramma, and the six grandson pallbearers for making Mom's final goodbye so special; · The Ladies Auxiliary of the Nassagaweya Presbyterian Church for the lovely luncheon which they provided. You all helped make a tragic event somewhat less painful. We thank you so much for your love and support. We love you all dearly. Fondest regards, Art and Joan Ford and family 37 Independent & Free Press, Thursday, May 27, 2010 February 16th, 1945 - May 25th, 2010 LEONI, Nicholas Anthony "Nick" Peacefully, on Tuesday May 25th, 2010 after a courageous two year battle with cancer. Nick was the beloved husband of Diana (nee Norlock) for 43 years. Loving father of Robert, Stephen and his wife Kristine. Cherished Papère (Poppa) of Logan, Aubrey and Kherington. Dear brother of Paul, Nancy, Peter and Barbara. Nick will be sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews. Nick dedicated 33 years of his life to serve as a Constable with the Halton Regional Police Service. He was a member of the Tactical and Rescue Unit, Village Constable/Resource Officer in Georgetown and a D.A.R.E. Officer for the last six years of his career before retiring. It goes without saying, that the world lost an amazing person and he will be sorely missed. Friends will be received at the J.S. You will always be remembered as the greatest father two sons could ever have had. We will miss you in body, but in mind and in spirit you will travel with us on all of our adventures until the end of our days. Born in Holland on August 30th, 1929, a survivor of World War II and a proud immigrant to Canada who loved his new country. A grandfather who adored his two granddaughters, Jade and Jazmine, a man who loved to laugh and smile with his family and friends. A brother to many siblings who he loved and cherished very, very much. A man so generous with all that ho possessed though the greatest possession was the smile be bestowed upon you. It is with great sorrow and sadness that I share this loss with all of those who knew him. We will miss you so very much! Rest in Peace, Dad WESTWOOD, Corinne Joanne Lillian Ended her valiant struggle on Saturday, May 22nd, 2010, with her friends and family by her side. Joanne was in her 41st year. She was the devoted mother to Shannon and Sara. Joanne will be missed by Shane Westwood (Jennifer Marshall) and Jennifer's daughters,best friend and loving cousin Cindy Clark of London, Ontario, nephews Shane and Riley, mother-in-law Elaine Thomson, father-in-law John Main, brother-in-law Lee Westwood, sister-in-law Louise Newman and niece Lauren, all of Victoria B.C. Joanne was the daughter of Marjorie and the late Alfred Still and sister to Harry and Jack Still. She will be greatly missed by all her Aunts, Uncles, and dear friends Holly Henderson and Scott Nellis. Joanne was one of the initial employees at Johnson Controls in Milton, Ontario. The family would like to extend a heart felt thank you to Karen Bushell and all the nursing staff at Bayshore Nursing for her ongoing care.
