The green thumbs were out at the Gellert Centre on May 14 for the Georgetown Horticultural Society's Plant Sale and Silent Auction. Hundreds of people flocked to the annual sale where they stocked up on perennials, annuals, water plants, shrubs, trees, hanging baskets and other items in preparation for the summer gardening season. Georgetown Horticultural Society members were on hand to greet the shoppers, answer questions and help with transportation. Happy gardening! For the last few months, the grade 7 students at the Halton Hills Christian School (HHCS) have been meeting with, interviewing and learning the life stories of local seniors in order to write the seniors' memoirs. The project was part of the Bridging the Gap program, which worked in conjunction with HHCS, the Bethel Christian Reformed Church of Acton, Acton's St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Churchill Community Church and Storylines. When their projects were completed, the students held a special reception where they read the memoirs aloud and presented the stories to the seniors. Photos by Andrea Lefebvre
