38 Independent & Free Press,Thursday, June 24, 2010 DEATHS LATIMER, Kathryn Dean Of Georgetown, Ontario Passed away in Georgetown Hospital on June 21st, 2010. Born in Charlottetown, PEI in 1929, she was the daughter of the late Kier and Ruth (Smith) Murray. She grew up in Halifax and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Dalhousie University, before marrying and moving to Georgetown. She was a long time member of St. John's United Church, Georgetown and Glen Williams. She was very active in all church activities taking on many leadership roles. She was also a life member of th Club at North Halton. During her recent illness she was provided with great support by her many friends. She is survived by her daughter Janice (Steven) Kostyshen, son David and two grandchildren Alexandra and Jack Kostyshen, sister Janet Arrand of Kingston, bothers Allen Murray and Gordon Murray of Nova Scotia. She was predeceased by brother William Murray and sister Mary Moffatt. The remains have been cremated and a memorial service will be held August 10th, 2010 in St. John's United Church, Georgetown. A family service will be held at time of interment in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia in early August. The three were participating in the Halton Hills chapter of Canadian Tire Jumpstart Day recently. Two dollars from each Canadian Tire sale made that day will be donated to Jumpstart to help local kids participate in sports and recreation programs. Alex Colthartt and Chris Henderson, two friends who grew up in playing basketball in Georgetown, hosted the first-ever 3-on-3 basketball tournament in support of Jumpstart. Canadian Tire Jumpstart gives children from families who require financial assistance the opportunity to participate in sport and recreation activities. To date, Halton Hills Canadian Tire Jumpstart has assisted almost 300 children participate in sport and recreation activities in this community. This has been done through sponsorship of over $63,000. Since its inception, the number of applications currently being received has grown by 160% so the need is greater than ever. Summer Blast was created to support the CtK Cares program, which benefits several of the school's teams and clubs.
