BOTTOM RIGHT: Holy Cross students say thanks by striking crazy poses. "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds." This motto may refer to the United States Postal Service, but it is just as true for the dozens of men and women who make sure local students arrive to school safely each and every day. To celebrate their hard work, the Town of Halton Hills hosted a Crossing Guard Appreciation Day on June 15. Local crossing guards gathered at Holy Cross Elementary School in Georgetown where they enjoyed entertainment, thank you speeches and a delicious luncheon. Thanks to the event sponsors: the Halton Catholic District School Board, the Halton District School Board, the Halton Regional Police Service, the Town of Halton Hills' Recreation and Parks Department and Infrastructure Services, McDonald's, Boston Pizza, Kelsey's Georgetown, Baskin Robbins, Mark's Work Warehouse and Shoppers Drug Mart Georgetown South! Photos by Andrea Lefebvre Gabriel and Noah Murphy snack on some delicious treats. Willow Street was a riot of people, sights and sounds on June 17 for the grand opening of the Acton Farmers' Market. From 3 to 7 p.m. every Thursday until October 7, Willow Street is closed between Mill and Church Streets so local farmers, artists and businesses can set up their booths and display their wares for eager shoppers. With live music and ready-to-eat foods, it's the perfect way to spend a Thursday evening!
