In Focus, July, 2010 10 Pink Day When Lizanne Gray decided to participate in the Weekend to End Women's Cancers, a twoday, 60-kilometre walk taking place in Toronto this September, her co-workers at Elliott Custom Brokers immediately rallied around her. On May 27, the entire Georgetown-based company showed their support for Lizanne and the walk by wearing pink for National Wear It Pink Day. Everyone snacked on pink cupcakes and participated in a draw for pink-themed flowers, jewelry and books. A handful of local businesses got together to host a free Thanks Georgetown Community BBQ on June 19. Halton Hills Roofing, Nu-Kitchen and Bath Creations, Adams Rent-All, M&M Meat Shops and Best Western Inn on the Hill wanted to thank the community for supporting their businesses and showed their gratitude with free barbecued hot dogs and hamburgers, a free dunk tank and bouncy castle, as well as live entertainment and a raffle. All money raised at the event was donated to Habitat for Humanity. Photos by Andrea Lefebvre True campers don't mind a little rain. That was the message on June 2 as the four local Tim Hortons locations celebrated Camp Day with music, games, prizes and more. Even when the rain started to fall in the afternoon, the cheerful Tim Hortons staff were outside barbecuing, organizing games and having fun at the annual fundraiser, which raises money for the Tim Horton Children's Foundation an organization that sends more than 14,000 disadvantaged kids to summer camp each year.
